Minnesota depends on the nurses, orderlies, radiation technologists, clerks, cleaners, physicians and many others who keep the state's hospitals running 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Hospitals ensure that the needed staff members are on hand to help meet the public's critical care needs. With 113,000 hospital employees statewide, it is a challenging task. And demographic factors make it more complex - an aging population is driving up demand at the same time retirements are increasing. Hospitals are working hard both on their own and through MHA to address workforce concerns.

Workforce Tool Project
Since 2008, Minnesota hospitals have been submitting workforce information to MHA's online Workforce Tool.
The tool helps hospitals better plan for their current and future workforce needs and allows them to access statewide benchmarks.
